Prisoners on death row, lifer or long time prisoner, will probably never be able again to travel and to see other countries and cities. That is why this project has been created.
The goal of “cards for inmates” is that prisoners will receive postcards from different cities from all over the world to give them a view of this world.
For someone who is locked 23 hours a day in a dark cell, it can mean the world to receive a postcard from a city somewhere in the world. You won’t only bring sunshine in a dark cell but also broaden the horizon.
With a simple city postcard you can show someone how the world outside the prison walls looks like.
If you like to bring sunshine in a dark cell, then send a postcard of your city to a prisoner who already waits for it wishfully.
This project doesn’t obligate you to something; it shall only serve to show someone a bit of the world with a simple post card and to rejoice them by doing this.
This is not a pen pal project; this means you can send a card one time to one or more inmates without contracting a correspondence with a pen pal! Unless you want explicit a reply to the card, then you can note this on your card. But, this we’ll leave up to you. However, generally this is just a post card project.
If you like to send one, three or ten postcards, one time or regularly, is up to you.
Everybody who wants to give pleasure to the men and women on the row, (you don’t have to be a member of our organization) can write an email to: cardsforinmates@justice-for.org
and then you will receive addresses from people on death row, lifer and long term priosoner that like to receive a postcard.
If you know someone who would like to take part in the post card project you can send us of course directly his address and we’ll admit him or her to the distribution list.
