Ayatollah Mahmoud Hashemi Shahroudi , October 2007 Your Excellency, ACAT-Luxembourg (Action by Christians for the Abolition of Torture) has informed me of the execution by stoning of JAFAR KIANI on 5 July last year in the village of Aghche-kand, near Takestan, in Qazvin province. This man had been condemned to death by stoning for adultery, along with MOKARRAMEH EBRAHIMI, the mother of his two children. However, following your orders to the judicial authorities of Takestan to stay the execution, the couple did not appear to be in imminent danger. I was utterly dismayed to hear of the use of such a barbaric punishment and I appeal to you to immediately take all necessary steps to prevent the stoning of Mokarrameh Ebrahimi. I strongly urge you to commute her death sentence and allow her and her two children, who have been imprisoned with her for more than ten years, to be released as soon as possible. I oppose the death penalty under any circumstances and consider stoning to be a particularly unacceptable and cruel form of torture to which no civilised state should have recourse. I therefore call upon your country's authorities to reinstate the moratorium on executions by stoning, which was introduced in December 2002, but has reportedly been infringed on at least two occasions already; in May 2006 in Mashhad and last July. I also urge you to respect the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, to which Iran is party, and to permanently cease all executions of juvenile delinquents. I hope that you will consider this appeal and above all that you will act swiftly to save the life of Mokarrameh Ebrahimi. Yours faithfully, Name: Address: Signature Hilfe für die Frauen im SCI Muncy! Vor einigen Tagen wurden Michelle Tharp, Shonda Walter und Carolyn King in einen neuen Block verlegt. Die drei Frauen sind die weiblichen Todestraktinsassen in Pennsylvania. Man hat sie jetzt in Block C verlegt, in dem ansonsten nur Gefangene untergebracht werden die eine Disziplinarstrafe bekommen haben. Die Zustände dort sind menschenunwürdig. Bevor man die Frauen dort unterbrachte mussten sie die Zellen putzen, die so verdreckt waren dass sie selbst jetzt noch nicht wirklich sauber sind. In der Zelle in der Shonda Walters untergebracht wurde funktionieren die Sanitäranlagen nicht richtig und die Zellen haben einen widerlichen Gestank. Am meisten aber leiden die Frauen unter dem extremen Lärmpegel der dort rund um die Uhr herrscht. Die Gefangenen die außer ihnen dort untergebracht sind schreien die ganze Zeit, beschimpfen einander und klopfen an die Fenster.
